90 Day Self Care Challenge – Week 4 & 5

Week 4 & 5 updates are in!!

October was an incredibly busy month for me & I found myself over-committed in many areas. This prevented me from staying “on task” as much as I would’ve liked w/ my 90 Day Self Care Challenge AND oddly enough, I am still making rapid progress in ALL areas!

YAY, me! :)

Here are updates for each area:

Career – Progress on my new website & logo design are slowed down a bit due to over-commitment. I’m taking steps to alleviate the over-committment & plan to have this complete by the end of November!

Physical – Although I wanted to created DAILY routine, I’m finding that’s not what works best for me. I get far more benefit & see faster results when I do my core-strengthening when I’m INSPIRED vs. OBLIGATED. WOW! What an amazing concept! My back has been feeling amazing & I’m getting stronger every day. :)

Emotional – I’m reconnecting with an old friend from college who I’d lost contact with, deepened my connection w/ several family members, & am waiting to hear back about getting together for lunch/dinner with a few others. All in all, my relationships are getting richer & more vibrant! AND, I got to spend some much needed Soulie time w/ some of my favorite girlfriends over Halloween & we had a blast. AHHHHH, the power of women! :)

That’s all for now! Feel free to check out the video update I created for these 2 weeks below & if you’d like to learn more about how I can support you in embracing YOUR greatness, visit my website at www.Awaken-Within.com or call today for a complimentary exploratory session where you can experience first hand the benefits I can offer you!

90 Day Self Care Challenge - Week 4 & 5

Are you in hot water?

 Hot Water

Have you ever felt like you were in over your head…?

Or that you were reaching your boiling point & weren’t too sure how to gain back your sanity?

We ALL have times in our life where it feels like we have SO much going on that adding even one more thing to the mix is going to be the tipping point between sanity & pure chaos.

Over-committment is very common & can lead to feelings of chaos & overwhelm, but oftentimes, we aren’t even aware that WE are the ones creating the chaos with our willingness to commit to that which doesn’t serve us.

So, how can YOU handle staying calm & grounded during these times of chaos…?
It differs for each person but the key to maintaining that balance without going off the deep end, losing it emotionally, or being burned out by over-commitment is to allow time for yourself to decompress & unwind.

And since that looks different for everyone, you might want to ask yourself the following questions to get clarity on what works for YOU:

FOR REFLECTION:

For Reflection

  1. What relaxes me? Sometimes, just
taking a few quiet moments of reflection time can be enough to escape the hustle, bustle, & noise of everyday
life. As an example, NOT listening to the radio or music in the car is a great way to create that space!
  2. What gives me time to feel & process any emotions associated with being overwhelmed? Are you angry, resentful, bitter, exhausted? Allowing yourself to actually feel & welcome emotions that are there in the moment can sometimes be enough of a release to bring some peace back into your day. Allow time & activities that will allow you to process emotions.
  3. What rejuvenates & energizes me? The best activities are those that will fuel you for long periods of time. Learn what these activities are for you.
  4. What can I let go of to create more time for myself? This can be a tough one to do because you might have to let go of something you really want to do, so be brutally honest & challenge yourself to only take on those tasks & activities that are going to support & enhance your well-being & peace of mind.

The answers to these questions can give you some healthy options for handling those times where conflict, chaos, & over-commitment are present. Be creative & start coming up with ideas of your own today!

And, for those of you struggling with ideas, here’s one to consider – take a bath!! Soaking in a nice hot tub or hot spring can be relaxing, allows time for processing emotion, can be extremely rejuvenating, & can give you time to think about what you can let go of so that you can create more space for sanity in your life.

Check out the Self Care for the Soul video I created below that outlines the importance of taking a bath for self-care & how to create that space in a way that works for you:

90 Day Self Care Challenge – Week 3

Week 3 updates are now available!!!

Originally, I’d intended to post & email my weekly updatesout to everyone but I realized last week that creates quite a bit more work for me… not to mention the fact that it increases how often you receive email from me! Although I know everyone is interested in the updates they’re getting, I’d still like to honor everyone’s time on email so going forward I will be updating the Awaken Within community twice a month in my bi-monthly newsletter & then posting on my blog/Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter during the off weeks.

If you’d like be updated weekly, the best thing to do is to subscribe to my blog at www.TheSelfCareGoddess.com! :)

So here are my updates:

FINANCIAL HEALTH
- My new website design is near completion & I will be able to start updating it with content in the next week or so!
- I’ve gotten back rave reviews on the Self Care Goddess photo shoot I did a month ago about the pictures that were taken & am super excited to start uploading those to my new website. If you’d like to see these for yourself, you can visit my Facebook profile page & look for the post via Snapfish from Thursday October 14th.
- This week you’ll see a new Self Care for the Soul video on the importance of Bath Time!

PHYSICAL HEALTH
- Last week I mentioned not feeling well & this continued throughout much of this week. It wasn’t until Wednesday of this week that the pain in my chest, solar plexus, & heart subsided & my breathing returned to normal. What’s really fascinating is that it all disappeared when I did some emotional release work with a friend on Wednesday afternoon! I love that the pain in our body is always related to something emotional taking place! :) At any rate, this prevented me from working on my physical health the way I would’ve liked; however, the pain & discomfort led to some areas of awareness that were still extremely beneficial to me. Thank goodness for that! :)
EMOTIONAL HEALTH
- One of my family members was in the hospital this week & I left a very heartfelt message for them that allowed me to express myself openly, not something I’ve always felt comfortable with. This was a good push outside my comfort zone & resulted in this person giving me a very heartfelt thanks for my message. :)
- I’ve reached out to another person who is close to me & expressed that I felt disconnected & wanted to work on having a deeper connection. I am hopeful this will result in some beautiful sharing & time spent with one another in the near future! :)
Ok, that’s it for this week! For those of you that wanted a video update, my energy level was low because of the physical stuff I was dealing with last week. Please forgive me & know that I’ll continue to blog & post videos of my progress throughout the end of the year! :)
Hugs, love, & light…
Jess
