5 Simple Ways to Create a Positive Mental Attitude

nullThis month’s Self-Mastery Spotlight will cover 5 simple ways for YOU to create a positive mental attitude!

Let’s face it. If you’re a human with a brain and the capacity to think, you’ve  suffered from a negative mental attitude at some point in time. :)The good news is that you’re not alone!

Even better news is that there are literally 100’s of ways to transform that negativity into a positive mental attitude .

To give you a few ideas I’d like to share the 5 simple steps that I take when I’m feeling negative to create a positive mental attitude:

  1. Be the change you wish to see in the world. This is a great quote by Mahatma Gandhi and one of the most important lessons you’ll learn in life. When you focus on keeping your words, thoughts, & actions as positive & uplifting as possible (even when you DON’T feel good!) you’ll feel better soon AND good things will be more likely to happen. Of course, there will be days when you lack the resources to maintain this kind of positivity (see #5) so let go of expectations of perfection AND learn from your mistakes. The good news is that the more often you maintain integrity with what you really desire, the easier it will become AND the more positive and happy you will feel!
  2. Create affirmations that represent the change you wish to be. Much of what limits us stems from the thoughts that we think. When you’re feeling upset or negative about life, take a moment to identify what the feelings and beliefs are that are driving your discontent. From there, identify what you REALLY want and write a positively-stated affirmation that represents what you desire. Review and practice alignment to this new affirmation daily until you start to feel more proficient in your efforts.
  3. Do something that brings you JOY. To shift your focus of attention on what’s NOT working onto what will work better, sometimes you need to have an “interrupt”. Interrupting your focus of attention to some more positive in nature will shift your energy in a more positive direction and what better way than to engage in an activity that brings you JOY?! 🙂 You’ll feel better AND you’ll be able to think more clearly & work through whatever was bothering you to begin with.
  4. Approach life with an attitude of open-mindedness, curiosity & discovery. When I’m feeling upset or negative about something it’s usually because my attention has become fixated and closed off to what’s possible. I believe this greatly limits our capacity to feel good about ourselves and life so something that can be done to counteract this limitation is to approach every interaction and experience with as much curiosity and discovery as possible. You can do this by asking lots of open-ended, curiosity-based questions to help you gain greater clarity and understanding as to why things are the way they are AND it will also take you out of resistance and limitation and into open-mindedness and possibility (the foundation of a positive mental attitude!).
  5. Maintain your energy stores with regular, consistent self care. Believe it or not, another huge reason for a negative mental attitude is physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion. If you’re not taking care of yourself in all of these areas, your capacity to be patient, loving, kind, gentle, and compassionate goes out the door! To feel better and to interact with others from a place of fullness (vs. lack, obligation, or drain), you must make taking care of yourself an absolute priority. When you’re feeling negative and unhappy, take a break to engage in some form of self-care (i.e. exercise, down time, free flow time, activities that bring you joy, massage, time with a loving friend, etc…).

So there you have it! These are just a few ways that YOU can create a positive mental attitude. The next time you feel negative, pick one of the suggestions above and give it a shot. 🙂

AND, remember that everyone’s different so if the first one doesn’t work for you, keep trying something new until you find the one that shifts things for YOU.

Are you ready to break free of the unresolved saboteurs that sabotage your greatness & cause you to sacrifice your soul, sanity, or health?

The Problem

Often, the reason we sabotage ourselves is not even by choice! As we go through life, we have experiences both negative & positive that unconsciously shape our beliefs, behaviors, & interactions with others.

Who you are NOW is a direct correlation to the conditioning of your past experiences.

Whether you like it or not, unconscious conditioning, beliefs, behaviors, interactions, & trauma of both your past AND present can greatly affect how you choose to handle life lessons & experiences that come your way!

If left unconscious & unaddressed, this kind of programming can begin to show up in one or more of the following ways:

  • Chronic Stress & Anxiety (physical, mental, & emotional)
  • Panic Attacks/Phobias 
  • Deep-Seated Fears (not being good enough, a failure, success, unlovability, abandonment, rejection, not being smart enough, not being unique/just like everyone else, safety, not being supported, vulnerability, conflict, etc…)
  • Limiting Beliefs (deep-seated beliefs that come from programming & conditioning
  • Bad Habits (procrastination, addictive behaviors, distractions, obsessive compulsive behaviors, etc…)
  • Unhealthy Vows (deep-seated beliefs that make you feel you can NEVER be/do/have/achieve what you desire)
  • Toxic Thoughts (Failure Mentality, Victim Mentality, Scarcity/Lack Mentality, suicidal)
  • Deadly Emotions (depression, sadness, stress, anger, rage, resentment, overwhelm, shame, guilt, etc…)
  • Physical Health Dis-ease (digestive issues, organ dysfunction, exhaustion/fatigue, ADD/ADHD, cancer, tumors, tension, degeneration, etc..)
  • Chronic Stress or Overwhelm (over-commitment, hyper-sensitivity, hyper-vigilance, hyper-distracted, etc…)
  • Addictive Behaviors (smoking, drinking, caffeine, sugar, salt, soda, fast food, social media, etc…)
  • Personality Patterns (over-critical, over-giving, over-achieving, over-dramatizing, over-withdrawal, over-analyzing, over-adventurous, over-aggressive, overly passive, etc…)
  • Blocks to Abundance (Giving/Receiving, Lack/Scarcity, Nurture/Growth)
  • Un-resolved Trauma (PTSD, physical/mental/verbal/sexual abuse, abandonment, neglect, etc…)
  • Disconnection to Higher Self (operating out of Human Animal or Human Ego behaviors)
  • …and many, many more!

Sadly, ALL forms of sabotage if left unchecked will often lead to burnout or worse… PHYSICAL DIS-EASE.

This of course prevents us from embracing our GREATNESS, living in JOY, & creating the life of our dreams!

The Solution

In order to resolve these saboteurs at a cellular level, it’s important to heal the pain of your past & recondition yourself for greatness. 

In order to do this, you will need to go through a process of radical self-discovery to identify the saboteurs that hold you back & then systematically heal & resolve these issues… at a cellular level!

From there, you’ll then need to take personal responsibility for your life by learning the art of self-care & embodied self-mastery!

The Science Behind Cellular Memory

To heal the pain of the past, you must heal & address any unresolved cellular memory patterns from your past in a way that opens the cell receptors.

Dr. Candace Pert, a well-known author of Molecules of Emotion & cellular biologist, discovered that whenever we have an intense, powerful emotion that we repress or shut down, specific chemical changes take place in our bodies. These changes can affect certain cell receptors, blocking those cells from communicating with the other cells in our bodies & increasing the likelihood for disease to occur.

Supporting evidence has also been found by Deepak Chopra, M.D. & author of Quantum Healing, who believes that as cells regenerate, cellular memory gets carried into each new generation of cells. If there is a negative life experience that was not resolved or dealt with in a healthy way, the negative imprint in that cellular memory CAN lead to emotional & physical dis-ease in the body over time. It can also put into place the self-sabotage behaviors we engage in to handle many of life’s challenges.

Opening the cell receptors in a way that heals negative trauma can often be accomplished by learning how to express your emotions, forgive, & gain wisdom from past setbacks & mistakes.

The Law of Attraction

From a quantum physics standpoint, everything is made up of energy. The most powerful forms of energy & vibration are our thoughts, feelings, spoken word, & written word so what we think, feel, say, & write in every moment… we become. 

Our emotional state is a powerful indicator of where we are energetically (or vibrationally) & can be a powerful predictor for what we ultimately attract into our lives.

Low-vibrational emotions such as anger, fear, rage, grief, sadness, hopelessness, & despair are toxic & will make us more magnetic to negative experiences & often lead to emotional & physical dis-ease in the body.

High-vibrational emotions such as love, gratitude, joy, forgiveness, compassion, empathy, trust, faith, etc… will raise our vibration & make us more magnetic to positive experiences & have a positive effect on our health & life.

Looking at your own life, consider the following contrasting situations:

  • Pessimists think, feel, speak, act, & write from a more cynical, dis-empowered & negative place, thus creating a reality that brings them more negative life experiences.
  • Optimists think, feel, speak, act, & write from a more grateful, empowered & positive place, thus creating a reality that brings them more positive life experiences.

One of the key elements to the Law of Attraction working in your favor is to raise your vibrational energy by releasing the low-vibrational conditioning, programming, and patterns that sabotage your success.

This will result in the POSITIVE attraction & manifestation of ALL forms of abundance!
